MOLLY HASTINGS
Lead Attorney / Owner
Since 2001, Molly Hastings has focused her entire career on criminal defense and trial practice. After 13 years as a dedicated public defender in both rural and urban jurisdictions, Molly transitioned into private practice in 2014. She has tried nearly 100 felony jury trials, with incredible success, including acquittals for first-degree and second-degree murder, forcible rape, child molestation, first-degree assault, and involuntary manslaughter. Molly has been recognized as being in the top of her field by Missouri Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, Association for Women Lawyer, and Missouri Lawyers Media. She received the prestigious Lon Hocker Award for trial practice in 2013. Molly is regularly featured on both local and national television for defending some of Kansas City’s most serious cases. Molly will defend ANYONE, with passion and fearlessness.
KIMBERLY M. PYLES
Lead Criminal Investigator
Kim graduated from Central Missouri State University in 2001, majoring in Criminal Justice and minoring in Sociology before beginning her career as an investigator. Kim worked as a licensed private investigator with McGough & Associates from 2001 to 2010. Kim then transitioned into criminal work as an investigator with the Missouri State Public Defender's Office from 2010 to 2020. Kim has 20 years of experience in criminal and private investigations, criminal backgrounds, skip tracing, witness interviews, surveillance operations, court testimony, crime scene diagrams, evidence photographs, subpoena service, and finding needles in haystacks. In November 2020, The Hastings Law Firm proudly welcomed Kim to the team as Lead Criminal Investigator.
BETTY
Betty joined the firm in 2022. Her compassion for our clients is matched only by her uncanny ability to nap at a moment's notice. Although you'll rarely see her in the courtroom, rest assured Betty is working doggedly behind the scenes to ensure you the best criminal defense possible!
